Due to continuing expansion, a globally recognised engineering firm is looking to grow their design team. As part of this growth, they are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of the full design lifecycle and become a subject matter expert for their division. The successful Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will operate in multi-functional project teams and be tasked with leading cutting-edge design projects for Special Purpose Machinery & Precision Rotating Equipment.
Key duties include:
- Client liaison
- Concept design
- 3D / 2D CAD
- Calculations
- Test & validation
- Overseeing work into build and commissioning
As a Principal level engineer, you will also become a subject matter expert for your product group and will get to mentor the more Junior/Graduate Engineers. The company designs a highly bespoke range of Special Purpose & Capital Machinery, through to Precision Electro-Mechanical Instruments used for Scientific research. Principal Mechanical Design Engineer requirements:
- Degree level in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- Experience in a similar position designing capital machines/rotating equipment & precision components/fabrications (or similar)
- 3D CAD Creo or SolidWorks (or similar)
- GD&T Engineering
- 1st principles, hand calculations & simulations (essential)
- Project Management
- Able to travel from time-to-time
