A global engineering business in the Dudley area is recruiting for two experienced Mechanical Design Engineers with strong machine design skills to design and innovate cutting‑edge machinery used in a range of sectors. The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be involved with everything and will work across the full project lifecycle, from blank‑sheet design, customer interaction, in‑depth CAD design, calculations, FEA, prototyping to taking the design through to manufacture, assembly and installation with a close link‑up with the shopfloor. They will also enjoy a strong workplace culture, high staff retention, considerable autonomy from day one and a clear progression path.
Responsibilities
- Blank‑sheet design and concept development
- Customer interaction and requirements gathering
- In‑depth CAD design
- Calculations and analysis
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Prototyping and testing
- Design hand‑off to manufacture, assembly and installation
- Collaboration with shopfloor operations
Requirements
- HNC/D or Degree level in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficient in 3D CAD (all major packages considered)
- Experience with FEA
- Electrical knowledge (desirable but not essential)
