Ever wanted to work on a tech stack that actually excites you, at a brand that millions of people interact with every single day? This could be the one. We're a globally recognised consumer brand in the middle of a major data modernisation programme, and they need a hands-on Data Engineer to help them build it.
The role involves working day-to-day on a modern cloud data platform, building and maintaining pipelines that take data from a variety of source systems through to the analytics and reporting layer. The stack is Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran, sitting on an Azure-based integration layer. This isn't maintenance work — you're building something new, and your fingerprints will be all over it.
You will report into a Senior Data Engineer and work as part of a collaborative, fast-moving team delivering against real milestones. Both permanent and fixed-term contract routes are available.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and maintaining data pipelines in Snowflake, dbt and Fivetran
- Writing clean, well-tested SQL, Python and dbt code
- Building dbt tests and data quality checks
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and improving team automation
- Participating in code reviews and Agile ceremonies
- Documenting your work so the whole team benefits
What we're looking for:
- 2+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer
- Strong SQL skills to write, debug and optimise non-trivial queries
- Hands-on dbt experience (Core or Cloud) actual usage, not just exposure
- Experience with at least one modern cloud data warehouse (Snowflake preferred)
- Python for data transformation and scripting
- Git and PR-based workflows
- Fivetran or another managed ELT tool
- CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps
- Data modelling knowledge (dimensional, medallion, semantic layer)
- MSSQL / T-SQL, particularly legacy migration experience
Why this role?
This is a genuine opportunity to grow fast. You'll be working on a recognised consumer brand at scale, mentored by senior engineers who care about your development, and getting real hands-on experience with a modern data stack that companies are desperate for right now. It's not a 'maintain the spreadsheets' role, it's a build role, with scope and visibility.
Hybrid working from their Manchester Piccadilly office, three days a week. Competitive salary, bonus, private medical, pension, life assurance, and some very good perks on top.
Data Engineer employer: Chroma Recruitment

With a strong focus on employee growth and development, you'll work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative environment, enjoying hybrid working arrangements and a competitive benefits package that includes private medical insurance and generous perks. This is not just a job; it's an opportunity to make a significant impact while advancing your career in a dynamic tech landscape.
