We're working exclusively with a well-known international consumer brand to find a Head of Data Engineering for a flagship data modernisation programme. Our client is rebuilding their data platform from the ground up, and they need the engineer who can lead it.

The programme board-visible modernisation is replacing a fragmented legacy estate with a unified Snowflake / dbt / Fivetran / Azure stack across four markets.

What you'll own:

  • The full data engineering estate: Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Azure, design, build, operation and roadmap
  • A high-performing team: Engineering Delivery Lead, Senior Data Engineers, QA Engineers
  • The controlled retirement of legacy MSSQL warehouses, parallel running, reconciliation, cutover
  • Engineering standards, CI/CD, automated testing, incident response, and the on-call model

You are:

  • A builder-manager. Your last hands-on contribution was recent, not years ago
  • Experienced leading a data platform migration on a real deadline
  • Calm under pressure, dependable in incidents, comfortable briefing C-suite audiences without jargon
  • Available for occasional out-of-hours escalation, this is a live platform across four trading markets

The stack: Snowflake · dbt · Fivetran · Azure (Function Apps, Logic Apps, Service Bus) · Power BI

The basics: Manchester City Centre, 3 days hybrid · Competitive base + 20% bonus + private medical, UK right to work required, no sponsorship
