Due to continuing expansion, a globally recognised engineering firm is looking to grow their design team. As part of this growth, they are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of the full design lifecycle and become a subject matter expert for their division.

The successful Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will operate in multi-functional project teams and be tasked with leading cutting-edge design projects. Key duties include:

  • Client liaison
  • Concept design
  • 3D / 2D CAD
  • Calculations
  • Test & validation
  • Overseeing work into build and commissioning

As a Principal level engineer, you will also become a subject matter expert for your product group and will get to mentor the more Junior/Graduate Engineers. The company designs a highly bespoke range of Special Purpose & Capital Machinery, through to Precision Electro-Mechanical Instruments. Each project is both different and highly interesting.

Principal Mechanical Design Engineer requirements:

  • Degree level in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
  • Experience in a similar position designing capital machinery / fabrications (or similar)
  • 3D CAD Creo or SolidWorks (or similar)
  • GD&T
  • Engineering 1st principles, hand calculations & simulations
  • Project Management
  • Able to travel from time-to-time
