We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of a new industrial product, working closely with the Technical Manager from concept through to prototype manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
- Design fabricated structures, welded assemblies and sheet metal components.
- Support product development from concept to prototype build.
- Produce bills of materials and engineering documentation.
- Liaise with manufacturing and procurement to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Support testing, problem solving, and continuous improvement activities.
About You
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience designing industrial equipment, machinery or engineered products.
- Proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience with fabricated steelwork and sheet metal design.
- Good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA).
- Desirable: Experience with prototype development, thermal processing equipment, or compliance standards (CE/UKCA).
