A leading space technology organisation is looking to add a Payload Systems Engineer to their growing UK Space team. Chroma are supporting the search to help meet increasing demand across next-generation satellite communications, RF payload and antenna system development programmes. This role offers the opportunity to lead the design, integration and development of future GEO and advanced satellite payload systems, working across end-to-end communications architectures, RF payloads, antenna systems and ground infrastructure. It's an excellent opportunity for a Payload Systems Engineer who enjoys technical leadership and wants to influence the development of cutting-edge space communications technologies.

Payload Systems Engineer Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
  • 10+ years' experience in communications systems engineering and/or engineering management
  • Experience developing technologies for the space environment
  • Experience working to space industry standards such as ECSS
  • Strong background in communications satellite design, including RF payload systems, antenna design and digital payload architectures
  • Ability to develop and analyse end-to-end system requirements and perform technical trade studies
  • Experience conducting link budget and capacity analysis
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Ability to lead technical proposals and customer presentations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

The following experience would be beneficial:

  • Line management and/or project management experience
  • Digital signal processing expertise
  • Phased array antenna design experience
  • Ground segment and infrastructure development
  • GEO satellite communications systems
  • Customer-facing systems engineering experience within the space sector
