Chroma is working with an electronics engineering company who are looking for a Lead Metrology Engineer to join their team! As a Lead Metrology Engineer, you'll act as a subject matter expert responsible for the metrology performance of utility products. You'll focus on accuracy, repeatability, drift, and long-term stability, ensuring products meet strict regulatory and certification requirements across UK and EU markets.

The Lead Metrology Engineer will work closely with architects and cross-functional engineering teams to support both existing products and new developments, including transducer characterisation, materials selection, and environmental testing from concept through to industrialisation.

Lead Metrology Engineer requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical, Electronics or relevant
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a regulated engineering environment
  • Experience working within an Electronics/Embedded/Engineering environment
  • Experience with gas metrology, sensing elements or transducer technologies
  • Ability to interpret technical standards, directives, and regulatory requirements (e.g. ATEX, MID, EN)
  • Experience supporting product approval, compliance, certification or testing
  • Strong understanding of materials behaviour (e.g. hysteresis, creep, ageing, thermal effects)
  • Experience with testing, validation, and analysis of measurement data
