A leading international manufacturer of advanced optical sorting, inspection and machine vision technology is looking to appoint a French-speaking Area Sales Manager to drive growth across France and selected European territories. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys developing new business, building long-term customer relationships and selling high-value technical solutions into manufacturing and industrial environments.
The Role
- Reporting directly to senior leadership, you'll take responsibility for growing business across France and parts of Europe, managing an established customer base while rebuilding key relationships and developing new opportunities.
- This role will have a strong new business focus, with approximately: 70% Business Development, 30% Account Management.
- You'll work closely with manufacturers, processors, distributors and partners, helping customers improve quality, productivity and efficiency through advanced inspection and sorting technologies.
- Following an initial training and onboarding period of approximately three months, you'll take ownership of your territory and play a key role in the company's continued European growth.
- Regular European travel is required, typically 1-2 weeks per month.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan across France and assigned European territories.
- Re-establish and strengthen relationships with existing and dormant customers.
- Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to closing.
- Conduct customer meetings, presentations and product demonstrations.
- Work closely with distributors, agents and end users.
- Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial agreements.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts and pipeline activity.
- Represent the business at exhibitions, trade shows and industry events.
- Collaborate with internal technical and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Fluent French (written and spoken).
- Proven B2B sales experience within a technical, industrial, engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong business development and relationship-building capability.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
- Able to work independently and manage a European territory effectively.
- Based within reasonable commuting distance of Manchester, with office attendance required when not travelling.
Desirable
- German language skills.
- Experience selling capital equipment, automation, inspection systems, machine vision, industrial machinery or manufacturing technology.
- Experience working across European markets.
