Our client, a leading player in global broadcast transmission, is seeking a Broadcast Event Engineer to join their growing team on a 2-year fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for Engineers from a broadcast transmission background to be at the forefront of delivering live event broadcast services to international audiences. In this hands-on role, you will be involved across the full event lifecycle from pre-staging and technical testing, to on-site rigging, monitoring, and providing direct customer support during live events. When not travelling, you'll also contribute to the design, build, and implementation of customer solutions for live broadcast projects. Due to the global nature of live events this role will involve a high level of regular international travel. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in delivering world-class broadcast coverage at major international events. You'll be joining a dynamic team working at the cutting edge of live TV transmission, where no two days are the same.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-stage and test equipment ahead of events.
  • Interpret and work from schematic and topology drawings to meet customer requirements.
  • Engage with clients and telecommunications suppliers in pre-event planning.
  • On-site setup, testing, and monitoring of broadcast transmission equipment.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and support during live events.
  • Maintain event logs and produce daily reports for transmission services.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure on live broadcast events.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast environments, workflows, and equipment (baseband video, audio, video routers, multiviewers).
  • Practical experience with coaxial/ethernet cabling and fibre technologies.
  • Understanding of MPEG encoding/decoding (AVC/HEVC) and JPEG2000.
  • Familiarity with Net Insight products (Nimbra) is desirable.
  • Solid basic IP networking knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience as an event-based Broadcast Engineer (or similar).
  • Full driving license required.
