Christopher Ward is an independent English-Swiss watch company. Founded in 2004, making waves as the world’s first DTC luxury watch brand, our vision of creating high quality mechanical watches without the elitism (and price tag) of the traditional Swiss watch brands, has helped make us the UK’s biggest watch brand. We were the first British watch brand to create our own in-house movement in over 50 years and the only British watch brand to win a GPHG award (aka the Oscars of the watch industry). Our growth and reputation have been driven by a loyal global community of watch enthusiasts and the unfiltered opinions of watch experts and influencers. Put simply, we are very different to most watch brands and fairness and transparency are at the core of our brand. We should also mention we are “extremely ambitious” and genuinely believe we can be one of the biggest and best watch brands in the world – with your help!
As a modern luxury brand, built on a strong tone of voice and long-form, culturally expansive content, we have so many stories to tell which we’ll happily go into great and enthusiastic detail about when we meet you. They don’t all revolve around our obsessive love of watchmaking but that obviously plays a large part. We’re equally excited about our partnerships with Everton Football Club, supporting the resurgent British Watchmaking industry and the charities to whom we donate 2% of our annual sales (and have done from day one, before we were even profitable).
We’re now looking for a Head of Brand to join our growing marketing team to develop our brand story-telling across our multiple and varied channels and to help introduce Christopher Ward to more people in more markets. With an ever-growing audience and an ambitious vision for the future, teams in the UK, Switzerland and the US, this is an amazing opportunity to shape and elevate our brand and our campaigns, to deepen engagement with our passionate community, and to deliver industry leading product launch strategies.
The Role
As Head of Brand, you will lead the translation of our brand positioning into a full multi-channel brand experience, ensuring our brand and product narratives resonate across all touchpoints. Reporting into the Marketing Director and working closely with the founders, you will be developing and leading the execution of Christopher Ward’s brand and creative strategy across all our markets and all our consumer touchpoints. You’ll bring creativity and exciting ideas to our brand, to help bring it and our watches to life in a way that cements our position as a forward-thinking, inclusive watchmaker.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Development: Lead the transformation of product briefings into high-impact storytelling campaigns that blend watch narratives with our broader brand vision.
- Creative Leadership: Work closely with our in-house and external creative agencies to develop and execute a brand vision that is distinctive, modern, and category-defining.
- Brand storytelling: Bring to life our brand story and positioning across our multiple marketing touchpoints and channels.
- Tone of Voice & Visual Language: Oversee and refine our brand’s tone of voice and visual identity across all channels, ensuring consistency and impact.
- Cross-Channel Coordination: Collaborate with the Head of Comms & Events and Head of Digital Marketing to deliver integrated, multi-channel campaigns that support their initiatives with outstanding creative.
- ATL Media & Creative Execution: Manage our ATL media agency, ensuring our print and TV creatives are on-brand, strategically placed, and effectively drive our brand narrative forward.
- Brand Guidelines & Playbooks: Develop and maintain comprehensive brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all customer touchpoints.
- Photography & Videography: Oversee the process and budget for creating high-quality master watch assets that feed into all marketing and brand channels.
- Studio & Production Management: Manage the scheduling and budgeting of photography and videography shoots, ensuring efficiency and excellence in execution.
- Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
- A brand leader with experience in building storytelling-driven campaigns and bringing big brand energy to a challenger brand.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to balance creativity with commercial objectives.
- Experience in managing multi-channel brand campaigns that integrate seamlessly across ATL, digital, social, and PR.
- A deep understanding of tone of voice, brand identity, and visual storytelling.
- Proven experience in managing external creative agencies and internal creative teams.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and priorities.
- Experience in the luxury, lifestyle, or watch industry is a plus, but not essential—what matters most is your ability to elevate a brand through storytelling and creative excellence.
