Our client is a fast scaling ecommerce fashion brand operating one global eCommerce store with a balanced sales mix across the UK, US and international markets, highlighting significant headroom for future international expansion. As the Financial Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial operations, working closely with the Financial Controller to deliver accurate financial reporting, compliance, and analysis. - Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payment and collections.
- Ensure that all transactions (sales, expenses, purchases) are correctly recorded in the accounting system.
- Help manage and track ecommerce sales transactions, returns, and refunds in collaboration with the operations team.
- Prepare VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks, including posting journal entries, recording all financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records in the general ledger.
- Prepare weekly payment run, reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and payment gateway accounts (e.g., PayPal, Stripe) regularly.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Support the preparation of year‑end financial statements and work closely with auditors.
- Reconcile inter‑company transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and in accordance with company policies.
- Support with stock valuation and inventory accounting in line with the business requirements.
A GOOD FIT LOOKS LIKE:
- Part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong desire to complete your qualification.
- Previous experience in a finance role, ideally within an ecommerce or retail business.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficient in using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel or Google Sheets.
