Why This Role Matters

The Graduate Intern, Chairman's Office will provide day-to-day support to the UK Chairman’s Office and specifically the Deputy Chairman, Christie’s International, reporting to the Business Development Manager.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Support to Deputy Chairman, Christie’s International
  • Assist the Deputy Chairman and UK Chairman with sales and client-related research, using departmental libraries, archives and museums to research Furniture and Decorative Arts for upcoming London, Paris and New York Sales.
  • Assist with similar research for Estates Appraisals and Valuations.
  • Monitor client activity alongside the Deputy Chairman’s Executive Assistant.
  • Assist general office administration, managing client paperwork.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Assistant, supporting their tasks where required.
  • Periodically answer phone calls and deal with client requests.
  • Print price lists, buyer lists and press releases post-sale.
  • Support to the UK Chairman’s Office
    • Assist members of the UK Chairman’s Office with general administration, special projects and special events.
    • Assist with collating material for the weekly UK Business Forum, including research around potential business opportunities and ongoing business.
    • Scan daily newspapers and magazines for business-related articles and any updates to client information, flagging any UK business opportunities to the Business Development Manager.
    • Track consignments and other UK Chairman’s Office business.
    • Provide support around client engagement and special events.
    • Assist with set up for meetings and boardroom lunches and greet clients on arrival.
    • Cover telephones during periods of absence.
    • Assist with processing expenses and invoices for members of the UK Chairman’s Office.
    • Ordering supplies, such as stationery, and managing post and assist with sending catalogues.

    What you’ll bring to the team

    • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Previous research experience, ideally relating to Furniture and Decorative Arts.
    • Knowledge of and/or an interest in UK heritage and collections.
    • Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with superiors and peers.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Previous relevant work experience.
    • Strong time management and task efficiency, as often working independently.
    • Ability to multitask and manage several projects at once.
    • Excellent presentation skills for research projects with exceptional attention to detail.
