Why This Role Matters
The role will be responsible for working with the Global Head of Engineering and the architecture team to understand strategic direction, then planning and leading the implementation of desired functionality with their team. All deliveries will be hosted in an Azure environment with a strong emphasis on performance, automation, monitoring and logging, and security, and therefore candidates need to possess a solid understanding and extensive experience of working in a modern Cloud environment including DevOps and CI/CD processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design and development of highly performant public facing REST APIs and associated system integrations in an Azure hosted environment
- Documentation of APIs conforming to the Open API 3.x framework
- Leading and steering the direction of a small, dedicated team, including building team alignment, code reviews, design workshops, story/ticket elaboration, etc.
- Review existing legacy implementations and input from the architecture team, and building appropriate solutions on the new platform following best practices
- Provide recommendations of new technologies or tools to ensure that the new platform is developed, tested and hosted in the most secure, scalable manner
- Provide guidance on tools and recommendations for the automation of testing and deployments of all deliverables
What you’ll bring to the team
- Educated to Degree Level, preferably in Computer Science or related subject or demonstrable industry experience
- Azure Certifications an advantage
- C#, Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL, Azure CosmosDB, Azure Service Bus, Azure Function Apps, Azure APIM, Azure Front Door, Auth0, WebSockets
- Strong development experience in C# and .NET core technologies built up across a range of different enterprise-grade projects
- Experience of designing APIs from the ground up which conform as much as possible to REST principles in terms of Resources, Sub Resources, Responses, Error Handling
- Experience of API design and documentation using Open API 3.x / YAML / Swagger
- Hands on experience of development, deployment and support within an Azure Environment
- Development of Azure functionality that utilises the best in breed security and authorisation concepts
- Creation and maintenance of build and release automation (CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Performance tuning of APIs and Azure Functions
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-changing environment, with a strong interest in continuous improvement and delivery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a good understanding of the best practices and the importance of Test Automation processes
- Some familiarity with AWS, and especially ElasticSearch would be beneficial but not mandatory.
