Why This Role Matters
The Senior Valuations Coordinator provides valuation support, coordination and strategic oversight to the Post-War & Contemporary and Impressionist & Modern Art departments as part of the Estates, Appraisals & Valuations team at King Street. The role is responsible for working on valuation requests across these categories, ensuring accurate and efficient delivery to deadline, and managing delegation to others when necessary. A key element of the role is maintaining a clear and current overview of the Post-War & Contemporary valuation pipeline, presenting regular updates to both PWC and EAV forums to support business getting, prioritisation and forward planning. The Senior Valuations Coordinator takes a proactive and commercial approach to valuation activity, identifying next steps and opportunities and ensuring valuation insights are effectively integrated into proposals where relevant.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Provide senior-level coordination and oversight of valuation requests for the Post-War & Contemporary and Impressionist & Modern Art departments, ensuring effective prioritisation and delivery.
- Present updates/reports to Post-War & Contemporary and Impressionist & Modern Art depts and at EAV weekly meetings, maintaining a clear overview of business getting activity and flagging when valuations require review or follow-up.
- Take a proactive approach to valuation requests, suggesting next steps and identifying opportunities, and ensuring relevant valuation information is incorporated into proposals as appropriate.
- Partner closely with Post-War & Contemporary / Impressionist & Modern Object Intelligence to ensure valuation insights effectively support strategic business getting and client engagement.
- Delegate to other members of the Specialist Led team when appropriate to effectively manage the Valuation Coordinator workload in addition to the strategic responsibilities.
- Coordinate the typing, correcting and proofing of valuation documents, taking responsibility for final administrative accuracy and consistency in line with Estates, Appraisals & Valuations cataloguing style.
- Prepare Valuation Briefs, Letters of Engagement, Consignment Agreements, Schedules of Property for sale and related documentation under the supervision of Account Managers.
- Organise and, where required, oversee the removal of client property, coordinating shipping, export, import and warehousing with internal departments.
- Oversee pre- and post-sale care, including sale tracking, and support multi-department consignments.
What you'll bring to the team
- Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience; in-depth knowledge of international auction houses preferred.
- Highly organised with proven ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Ability to build highly effective relationships with internal stakeholders within the Post-War and Impressionist departments and the wider business at all levels of seniority.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
- Flexible team player with strong initiative.
- Strong follow-up skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work independently with minor supervision.
- Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Christie's internal systems helpful (CAMS, COS, JDE).
- Knowledge of at least one European language preferred.
