In collaboration with the Head of Impressionist & Modern Art Europe, Regional Managing Directors and regional teams drive business getting for a portfolio of European clients, with particular focus on high value clients and top objects, working as a strategic partner with regional and business leaders.
- Responsible for increasing consignment and buying activity, ensuring a healthy pipeline of new business and delivering on revenue targets.
- Working closely with international colleagues across the 20/21 group, as well as Regional Management, Regional Representatives, Chairman's office, Client Strategy, Object Intelligence, Commercial office and cross category to create a significantly enhanced business and market presence in Europe.
- Collaborates with other business getters and groups to expand client relationships for revenue growth.
- Proactively identifies key works of art, collections, external/internal stakeholders, clients and creates/cultivates productive networks within the marketplace.
- Formulates and implements own business getting strategy maximising various channels for target client groups across auction and private sale.
- Mobilizes and aligns colleagues, process and activities to support global and local strategy and activities.
- Manages a pipeline from the sourcing of opportunities to closing deals and concluding successful client sales, working closely with Specialist teams in London and Paris.
- Participates in structuring and negotiating commercially viable deals and drives profitability.
- Introduces new opportunities and clients based on market knowledge.
- Works with Client Strategy, Object Intelligence, Business Management, Commercial office, Marketing and PR teams to leverage and create complete picture of client needs that drives strategy for consignments and sales.
- Attend Christie's auctions and related client events, where appropriate to sell sales and further client relationships.
- Delivers significant revenue targets through the fostering and growing of client relationships.
- Liaises with Estates, Appraisals department, working on appraisals as a means of generating new long-term business opportunities and reconnecting with inactive clients.
- Assist with mentoring team members to support the development of their management, technical and business getting skills and the future growth of the talent pool.
Qualifications:
- MA / BA in Art History / Art Market equivalent
- Significant portfolio of clients and business in the Impressionist & Modern field
- European languages
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in field of expertise
- Be attentive to detail and capable of working with a dynamic international team
- Commercial and business awareness and ability to market to a sophisticated audience
- Demonstrated ability in appraising property and business-getting with high level clients
- Demonstrative sale expertise, transactional capability, keen negotiator
- Excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional client service skills
- Strong organisational skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines
- Research skills including analysis and interpretation of data
- Project management skills
