Luke Curran & Co. Solicitors are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 intake of the Law Degree Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with Ulster University. This four-year programme offers an alternative route into the legal profession, allowing participants to gain paid work experience within a legal practice while completing a fully funded LLB (Hons) Law degree from Ulster University.
About the Programme
The Law Degree Apprenticeship combines structured legal employment with part-time academic study. Apprentices will work four days per week at Luke Curran & Co. on Newry and attend university one day per week at Ulster’s Belfast campus. Apprentices will receive a full-time salary for the duration of the programme, including the day spent at university. Tuition fees are fully funded by the Department for the Economy. On successful completion, apprentices will graduate with an LLB (Hons) Law degree and will have gained four years of practical experience in a legal setting.
The Role
You’ll earn while you learn, working towards your professional legal qualification while gaining hands-on experience. You’ll be supported by experienced solicitors and learn about Buying or Selling Property, Making a Will, Estate Planning, Administration of Estates, Personal Injury Claims, Divorce, Commercial Litigation, Business or Employment matters. You’ll assist with legal research, drafting documents, preparing papers, attending client meetings and general administration to progress files. This is a role for someone who is eager to build a career in law. You’ll gain early exposure to high-quality legal work, while developing the confidence and skills to progress within the profession.

The firm has provided legal guidance to private and commercial clients in all major areas of law in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland with a particular focus on Property, Estates, Litigation and Matrimonial.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be resident in Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK. They should have achieved (or be predicted to achieve) AAB at A-Level or equivalent. This opportunity is suitable for school leavers or individuals seeking a career change. No prior legal experience is required. We are looking for applicants with a genuine interest in the law, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
