About the role Reporting to the Finance Operations Lead, the Financial Accountant will strive to maximise impact across the organisation through contributing to the creation of a strong control environment to meet financial compliance and reporting commitments.
- Lead and manage all aspects of Christian Aid Group Year End audit process and statutory accounts delivering high quality work.
- Lead and manage Christian Aid Group Month end process and interface with Management accounting process and procedures that meet organisational values and goals.
- Responsible for all HMRC compliance and reporting in line with legislative requirements.
- Drive and own posting and reporting of Christian Aid Group Fixed Assets thinking critically to improve existing processes.
- Drive and own responsibility for GL integrity of London Entity (CHR).
- Oversee treasury management including foreign exchange transactions and investments to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Develop and maintain accurate cash flow forecasting models ensuring effective cash flow planning and working capital management and providing timely reporting and insights to support decision-making.
- Ensuring bank mandates are up to date and aligned with governance requirements managing banking relationships to ensure compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
- Responsible for reviewing and posting journals related to accounts payable and income processing from the outsourcing provider ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data transferred from outsourced functions.
About you Who we are looking for:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA).
- Significant experience of compiling Group Statutory accounts with international branches and subsidiaries.
- Ability to indirectly manage peers and internationally based finance teams.
- Experience of reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
- Developed communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial issues to non-financial staff.
- Advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Advanced SUN systems knowledge (including transactional and journal posting).
- Detailed knowledge of complex accounting systems.
- Highly developed analytical skills and able to review financial information for consistency and accuracy.
- Detailed knowledge of UK GL payroll posting and reporting.
- Detailed knowledge of VAT, tax and trading issues.
- Knowledge of the Charity SORP and related statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience of dealing with the collection and consolidation of financial reports from international branches and subsidiaries.
- Able to provide training on financial matters.
- System implementation and upgrade experience.
- Supervisory experience.
