The Role
Our advisors and officers provide technical or professional expertise and advice to internal and external customers. They are expected to give support to our front line teams and work closely with our senior leaders to deliver great services across the organisation. They will provide key support in the implementation of policy and procedure and may manage service delivery teams or individuals. Our Income Officers provide a comprehensive and customer focused income management service which offers tenants value for money and efficiency in the management of their rent account.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a customer focussed, proactive, comprehensive and high-quality Rent Collection and Arrears Recovery service, with primary responsibility for the recovery of current and former tenant rent and arrears recovery on a patch of properties.
- To manage all arrears recovery processes, from first letter through to eviction, on a defined patch of properties to maximise income and reduce outstanding arrears.
- Ensure early intervention, including maximising income, budgeting, referring to debt support agencies, tenancy support or other professional agencies.
- Work collaboratively with other teams and services to maximise collection of current tenant arrears / debts, prioritising tenancy sustainment for tenants at risk of eviction.
- Be responsible for managing a portfolio of rent accounts, working within agreed policies and procedures and utilising all appropriate and available tools to recover debts owed; these will include other departments and taking cases to court where appropriate.
- To provide advice and guidance as appropriate through the arrears and legal process.
- Ensure that KPIs are achieved, with the aim of achieving top quartile benchmarked performance.
- To develop and maintain partnerships with key agencies, including Housing Benefit, DWP, CAB, social services and any other relevant support agencies.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law in respect of appropriate debt recovery, including tenancy enforcement, human rights, disability and equality.
- Identify and report any safeguarding issues in line with our Safeguarding policies.
- Uphold our values working collaboratively with colleagues across the Association.
- Demonstrate the Association commitment to building a diverse and inclusive organisation.
- Any other duties that may be reasonably required.
