The Three Waters team takes great care in providing water supply, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure and services for our Christchurch and Banks Peninsula communities. We look after and operate the Three Waters Infrastructure so that our communities have a thriving, liveable and prosperous city.
About the role
You will be part of the team which delivers Water & Wastewater Services at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWTP), so your day will be filled with variety and challenges. You will enjoy working collaboratively and remain adaptable in a fast-paced environment while adhering to policies and procedures and ensuring sound judgement in prioritising tasks and activities to meet deadlines.
Some of the key tasks, in collaboration with our Procurement and Finance teams, include:
- Ensuring we have the right supply and service agreements for suppliers and contractors that support our daily CWTP activities.
- Exploring how we can further optimise our purchasing processes.
- Providing reports and monitoring key performance indicators on our purchasing activities.
- Monitoring our purchasing actions to ensure that we adhere to our Procurement Rules and policies.
- Being the primary interface with contractors and suppliers for our supply and service agreements.
As the sole contracts specialist at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant, you will be used to working in a demanding environment. You will be able to ensure good collaboration between your team and the procurement and finance teams, while using your methodical approach and capability to multi-task and maintain accuracy, even with high volumes of work.
With these skills you will also bring:
- 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience with SAP, ideally in finance or procurement.
- Advanced use of Excel.
- Experience developing scopes of work for maintenance contracts.

Hours of work - 32 hours per week across 4-5 days. Hours structure to be agreed upon with Team Leader.
Position - Fixed term ending 2nd September 2026.
Location - This position is primarily based at Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant, Bromley.
Salary - The hourly rate for this position goes from $32.52 to $36.13 per hour. Starting rates will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
