  • Required education: NVQ Level 2/3 or Care Certificate.
  • Required experience: Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Job Types: Full-time/ Part-time, Permanent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Users:

  • To support challenging behaviour, safely and supportively, by using the skills and approved approaches learned through training; promoting positive behaviour management.
  • To assess the individual resident before admission, and from this to draw up their service plan/program of activity in conjunction with Senior Staff and other significant people.
  • To participate in the allocation of places on the grounds of compatibility and resource implication.
  • To participate in the reviewing, reassessing, and changing of the service plan to ensure that it is up-to-date and in line with the individual needs.
  • To be responsible for the implementation and recording of individual service plans.
  • To offer individual support when necessary and refer to a senior member of staff if specialist support for the person is required.
  • To support the individual in maintaining contact with their friends and family by telephone, letter, and visits.
  • To participate in the training of service users to enable them to develop new skills and to develop training opportunities to ensure skill development.
  • To be responsible for communicating to all service users the information on their service contracts, the quality measurements, and clear guidelines on how they might access the complaints procedure.
  • To promote good relationships and communication with people who use the service and staff alongside acting as advocates for service users.

Staff:

  • To attend work reliably and punctually.
  • To work in partnership with people who use the service, colleagues, support services, families, and all other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcome for the people who use the service.
  • To participate in the staff appraisal program.
  • To manage the appropriate delegation of work and monitor the quality of service delivery.
  • To offer team-building sessions and training programs, designed to meet the individual needs identified through supervision and staff appraisal, attend and take an active part in all scheduled training, to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required to effectively fulfil the role.
  • To be involved in the management of the staff time efficiency through staff ratios, annual leave, and monitoring the quality of service delivery.
  • Ensure that all Company policies are promoted and adhered to.
  • To encourage and support people who use the service to keep a clean, safe, and enjoyable living environment.
  • To ensure people who use the service’s privacy, dignity and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

General:

  • To participate in maintaining up-to-date records and preparing reports.
  • To develop links with all professional and statutory agencies who are involved with the residents.
  • To be responsible for the accurate recording and checking of budgets/finances that have been allocated to you.
  • To ensure that all legal requirements imposed on the services are adhered to.
  • Ensure that the storage, administration, and recording of all drugs are by the GP’s instructions and management policy.
  • To participate in the implementation of communications systems that will regularly inform and update carers, service, and staff.
  • To report any incidents, accidents, and any changes in service to the Home Manager/Registered Nurse in charge.
  • To participate in the day-to-day running of the service, taking into account the maintenance of the home and equipment.
  • To manage time efficiently and effectively.

Personal:

  • Accept regular supervision from one of the organization's managers.
  • To keep abreast of new developments through reading articles in professional journals.
  • To participate in the organization's staff appraisal system.
  • To accept training opportunities when they have been identified.
  • To cover any duties required for the safety and well-being of the residents.
  • To encourage people who use the service to access a range of opportunities and experiences, supporting them to maximize their inclusion and participation in the community according to their needs, wishes, and preferences.

Other:

  • To work away from home as and when necessary and assist service users on holidays and days/evenings away from home.
  • To do other duties that may be requested as and when they occur such as cleaning daily.
