Christ the King College is seeking an empathetic, organised, and proactive Year Team Assistant to provide vital care and support to our students. As a joint Church of England and Catholic secondary college, we are a community built on Christian values, dedicated to helping every student become "the best they can possibly be." Our pastoral support staff play a crucial role in working in accordance with the mission, ethos, and values of the College.
In this rewarding role, you will be the designated support for specific cohorts of students, working closely with the Year Group Leader and other staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure student welfare, positive behaviour, and excellent attendance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily care and support to students, mentor individuals, and lead small intervention groups or restorative justice mediations.
- Support the school's on-call system, investigate behaviour incidents, take student statements, log details on MIS, and help enforce acceptable standards of conduct.
- Maintain active contact with parents to discuss welfare or behaviour concerns and attend parental meetings.
- Assist in tackling under‑achievement. Depending on the Key Stage, you will support students transitioning from primary school, making KS4 study choices, navigating exams, or managing Sixth Form transitions, UCAS applications, and discretionary Bursary Fund allocations.
- Liaise directly with the Year Group Leader and Pastoral Support Manager on Child Protection issues and attend multi‑agency meetings when required.
- Maintain accurate student records on the MIS system and undertake break/lunchtime supervisory duties.
- Have a strong commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and the welfare of young people.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with families, SLT, and external agencies.
- Be highly organised with the ability to maintain records on school MIS systems.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating high standards of personal presentation, attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion at all times.
