Christ Church Primary School and Nursery is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant with expertise in SEN and additional needs to join our supportive team.

About the Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with senior lunchtime responsibilities, you will be a vital part of our team, helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.

Your role will include

  • Working under the guidance of teachers to support learning in the classroom and, when needed, supervise classes for short-term, pre-planned cover.
  • Delivering structured support for pupils, including contributing to Individual Education, Behaviour and Support plans and guided reading sessions.
  • Supporting teachers with planning, assessment and accurate recording of pupil progress.
  • Providing pastoral support; assist with pupils’ personal needs, first aid and wellbeing practices.
  • Accompanying pupils on visits and extracurricular activities and help run out-of-class provision (breaks, lunchtimes) as required.
  • Using ICT to support learning and help develop pupils’ confidence with technology.
  • Encouraging resilience, independence, and confidence in our pupils.
  • Contributing to the school’s high standards of behaviour and achievement.
  • Working under the direction of the Headteacher, organise and supervise the work of the supervisory assistants.
  • Supervising children before, during and after the school meal.

About You

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their learning journeys.
  • Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic, with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Holds a Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Has experience working with children with additional needs, including communication challenges.
  • Understands the primary curriculum and can adapt support to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Works well as part of a team and values collaboration.
  • Has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Holds high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour.
