Worship Leader

Join our diverse and passionate church ministry team. The role will drive creativity and progress in all areas of worship and production. This key role will work alongside a dynamic and supportive staff team who aim to encourage and bring the best out of each other. This is complemented by a supportive leadership so everyone can flourish in their roles. Christ Apostolic Church Pilgrims Tabernacle has a vision to serve what God is doing in the United Kingdom and desires to mobilise people of all ages to be part of this. We believe God is inviting us to be part of His Body, and this role will encourage the church each week to bravely step out into this exciting adventure. The individual will lead the worship life of the church community and encourage, enable and equip others to do the same, by developing, pastoring and training a worship and production team, consisting of musicians, technicians and other creatives.

Work Pattern

4 days in total (to include Sundays). In the week you will be involved in the Sunday worship service, Wednesday Bible Study, Friday Revival Service, monthly Services, yearly services while helping guide spiritual formation, meetings, auditions, rehearsals, organising rotas, preparation for events, special events and activities, songwriting, and more.

Spiritual Development

  • Pastoral oversight – developing a supportive environment that looks out for each person\’s wellbeing and spiritual growth
  • Discipleship – ensuring that each person involved in this ministry is intentionally growing in their faith journey
  • Prayer rhythms – ensuring this is a presence of God centred ministry by calling the team regularly to times of prayer, fasting and worship

Team Coordination & Development

  • Leading rehearsals, overseeing development of rotas. Coordinate all services. Lead worship services and develop other worship leaders.
  • Recruitment – further developing our current systems of recruiting new team members – assessing their skill, heart and suitability.
  • Organising teams to lead times of gathered worship at:
    • Each of our increasing number of Sunday services
    • Prayer Gatherings
    • Regular events such as Remah Hour (Bible Study)
    • Special events – such as conferences and other initiatives
    • Any other gathering where worship ministry is required
  • Skills development – understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both the teams and individuals and putting a development plan in place for each. Identifying and mentoring worship leaders and musicians.
  • Develop a culture of review – modelling an open, teachable heart which is always desiring to learn and move forward.
  • Work with Church Online team – to coordinate and develop an ever improving experience.
  • Oversee and liaise with the sound team including working to define the sound of the house. Preparing rotas and communicating with the team ahead of rehearsals and events. Working to create an innovative, healthy and teachable culture.
  • Support the worship ministry team and volunteers, including recruiting new staff, providing training, and communicating key information.
  • Open and close the building, check the building for cleanliness, and organise offering procedures.
  • Coordinating with other assembly leaders, such as the choir, bell choir director, and organists.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings and regular one‑on‑one meetings with the pastor.
  • Prepare the rota for all programmes in church.
  • Ensure that members follow the time designated to them.
  • Ensure that the media Team, Choir and programme desk team work with the rota given to them.
  • Participating in prayer sessions in church.

Planning

  • Developing a vision for worship with the pastor and worship ministry team.
  • Prepare the sanctuary for worship, including arranging flowers, filling candle oil, and setting up for special services.
  • Plan worship services, including the order of service, themes, and visuals.
  • Special services like baptisms, wedding, anniversaries, retreats and communion.
  • Propose new songs.
  • Ensuring Planning Centre is continuously updated.
  • Communicate details to the pastor, office administrator, and worship participants. Ensuring excellent communication across all the teams.
  • Oversee track management and development.

Projects

  • Songwriting – develop and coordinate a song writing pipeline and explore suitable avenues to express them (we already have 6 homegrown songs ready to go!)
  • Resource Development – develop opportunities to resource the wider church:
    • Albums with new songs of worship
    • Training events
    • Online tools
  • Special events – inspiring and developing productions at key times of the year such as Easter, Christmas and other special outreach programmes.
  • Work with church online team for special projects.

Maintenance

  • Manage the worship ministry budget.
  • Keep updated log of all equipment and ensure it satisfies H&S requirements.
  • Take lead on equipment maintenance, repair and upgrade proposals.
  • Manage storage of equipment.
  • Ensure stage presentation is of high quality.
  • Open and close the building, check the building for cleanliness, and organise offering procedures.
