We are currently expanding our team in Baldock and are looking for a Part I Architectural Assistant who is looking for a new and exciting opportunity to become a key member of our friendly practice, working on a range of projects predominantly in the retail, residential and commercial sectors. The successful candidate will champion high quality working practices to ensure expectations are met on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce detailed workings, drawings and specifications
- Discuss the ideas, objectives, requirements and budget of a project. In some cases, help to select a site
- Consult with others on the team about design
- Assess the needs of the building and its users, advise the Project Manager on the project practicality for the client
- Assess the impact on the local environment
- Assist with project management, specifically using computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Assist in ensuring that project deadlines are met
- Assist in specification of the nature and quality of materials required
- Assist with the preparation of tender applications and presentations
- Prepare applications for planning and building control departments
- Assist the Project Manager in coordinating the work of contractors
- Resolve problems and issues that arise during construction
- Ensure that the environmental impact of the project is managed
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Stage 1 practical experience - usually 12 months of supervised and recorded professional experience or studies. This is commonly taken in architects' practices, but may be in any sector of the building industry.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Strong problem‑solving abilities
- Enthusiastic and proactive learner who pays attention to detail
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Good understanding of the current UK Building Regulations
- Organised with strong time management skills
- Experience using AutoCAD and Revit is desirable
