Are you passionate about languages and committed to inspiring young people to become confident global citizens? Chosen Hill School is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Modern Languages to join our thriving and highly supportive faculty from September 2026. Applications are welcome from teachers who can offer KS3 Spanish.
The faculty also offers French and German to A Level and we also deliver EAL lessons and support for these students in lessons. Please do make clear on your application if you are able to offer any else and to what level. We welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers and experienced colleagues.
Chosen Hill School is a large, popular and successful 11–18 academy situated in Churchdown, ideally located between Cheltenham and Gloucester with excellent transport links and access to the beautiful Cotswolds. With approximately 1300 students on roll, including 200 in the Sixth Form, we are proud of our warm, inclusive and aspirational community where students and staff work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support.

We are a genuinely strong and vibrant department and one of the strongest within the school, with a collaborative ethos and a strong culture of shared planning and mutual support. Staff benefit from a collaborative approach to curriculum design and shared high-quality resources across all key stages, helping to ensure workload is manageable and staff feel well supported.
At Key Stage 3, all students study either French or Spanish in Year 7, with the majority choosing to take German as a second language from Year 8. We have developed an exciting knowledge‑rich curriculum influenced by leading linguists such as Gianfranco Conti and Barry Smith, with a strong emphasis on phonics, fluency, cultural understanding and communicative confidence.
At Key Stage 4, we offer French, Spanish and German following the Edexcel specification, with healthy class sizes across all three languages. At Key Stage 5, we are proud to sustain successful A Level groups in all languages and follow the EDUQAS specification. The faculty is also supported by three Foreign Language Assistants who work closely with our Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students to develop speaking confidence and authentic communication skills.
Languages are highly valued within the school and there are many opportunities for students and staff to participate in enrichment activities including international visits, theatre and cinema trips, cultural events, food tasting activities and language clubs. Our students are curious, enthusiastic and eager to engage with the wider world through language learning.
