them. As our PBS Lead, you will own the mission of making our service a place where
every individual with a learning disability, autism, or complex needs is truly safe,
understood, and supported to thrive.
This is a rare opportunity to lead meaningful, measurable change. You'll have the
authority, resources, and senior backing to transform how our team thinks, plans, and
acts — with zero incidents as the destination.
WHAT YOU’LL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- 1. Prevent incidents before they happen
- 100% of individuals have a completed FBA identifying triggers and proactive
- strategies
- All PBS plans include staged de-escalation protocols for staff to follow
- 50% reduction in incidents within 6 months — zero by month 12
- Target zero unplanned restrictions within 12 months
- Every restriction has a written elimination plan
- Full debrief and root-cause analysis within 5 days of any incident
- 3. Equip every staff member to prevent incidents
- 100% of staff trained before working unsupervised
- 90%+ of staff confident in de-escalation without restriction
- Zero incidents caused by staff not following a PBS plan
- 4. Make PBS plans genuinely effective
- All plans co-produced with the individual, family, and MDT
- Every plan reviewed within 48 hours of any incident
- 100% of staff can accurately describe the plan for each person they support
- 5. Use data to drive incidents to zero
- Real-time incident and near-miss data visible to the whole team
- Monthly reporting on trends, root causes, and prevention actions
- Near-misses recorded and acted on before they become incidents

Baseline established. All FBAs completed. Staff training underway. You know every person's triggers.

50% reduction in incidents from baseline. All PBS plans reviewed, updated, and co-produced.

Month 9 Restrictive practices at or near zero. Staff competency assessments complete. Culture visibly shifting.
M12
Month 12 Zero harmful incidents sustained. Prevention culture fully embedded. The mission delivered.
ABOUT YOU ESSENTIAL
- 5+ years in a PBS-focused role (LD, autism, or complex needs)
- Recognised Level 6 qualification in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- UKSBA certified/registered
- Relevant practical experience in delivering and leading PBS within Learning Disability and Autism services
- Competency in Functional Behaviour Assessments
- Knowledge of MCA 2005, DoLS & safeguarding
- PMVA / MAPA / Studio3 training (or willingness)
- Genuine commitment to zero-incident, rights-based care
DESIRABLE
- BILD PBS Competence Framework accreditation
- Experience in a CQC-registered service
- Knowledge of Makaton or AAC
