We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of English to join our fantastic team at Chorlton High School on a fixed term basis for 1 Academic Year (1st September 2026 - 31st August 2027). Main Purpose of the Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the standards of learning and raising levels of student achievement for all students in their care. They will fulfil the professional responsibilities common to all classroom teachers, meeting the Professional Standards for Teachers appropriate to their career stage. The key purpose of the role is to secure high standards of teaching, learning and achievement in English, ensuring all students make strong progress and are supported to reach their full potential. The post holder will be accountable to the Curriculum Leader, Senior Leader and ultimately the Headteacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive English lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Promote excellent academic progress, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Assess, monitor and report on student progress, implementing timely interventions where required.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of an ambitious and engaging English curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively within the English department and across the school to support our vision and values.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that supports achievement and personal development.
  • Support the pastoral development of students, including acting as a form tutor where required.
  • Play an active role in enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular activities.
  • Reflect on and improve practice through professional development and collaborative working.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and external partners.
  • Contribute to school improvement priorities and the wider life of the school.
