We are seeking a Workshop Manager to lead and control workshop operations in a multi-franchised dealership across separate workshops. This is an operational role suited to a strong leader with proven experience managing technicians, driving productivity, and maintaining high standards across multi-brand workshops. The successful candidate will be responsible for workshop performance, technician management, workflow control, and operational efficiency, ensuring that client expectations, manufacturer standards, and commercial targets are consistently achieved. Key Responsibilities- Workshop Control & Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day workshop operations across multiple facilities.
- Plan, allocate and control workload to maximise productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor labour utilisation, efficiency, and productivity KPIs across workshops.
- Ensure effective job planning, workflow management, and resource allocation.
- Maintain high standards of quality control, compliance, and health & safety.
- Drive consistent processes and best practice across all workshops.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team of technicians across multiple locations.
- Manage technician performance, attendance, training, and development.
- Conduct appraisals, performance reviews, and disciplinary processes where required.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and retention of technical staff.
- Build a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Provide visible leadership across all workshops.
- Standardise processes and drive consistency across the team.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards for training and warranty across multiple franchises.
- Manage technical standards, diagnostic capability and brand-specific processes.
- Liaise with franchise partners, warranty teams and technical support where required.
- Support audit preparation and performance improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Service Managers, Aftersales teams and Parts departments.
- Control workshop costs, labour recovery and warranty performance.
- Support customer satisfaction targets and complaint resolution where necessary.
- Travel between sites as required to support operational needs.
- Proven experience as a Workshop Manager, Senior Technician, or Service Manager within the UK motor trade, ideally within a franchised environment.
- Strong track record of managing technicians and workshop performance.
- Experience working with multiple brands and/or multi-site operations.
- Strong understanding of workshop KPIs, labour utilisation, and productivity metrics.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of warranty processes and manufacturer standards.
- Experience implementing operational improvements across workshops.
- Full UK driving licence.
- On target earnings of £50,000 per annum.
