Location: Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre

Contract: Part Time (6 hrs per week) / Permanent

Salary: £17.82 per hour

Closing Date: 12 July 2026

Rota: Thursday 4-6pm, Saturday 8:00am-12pm, with opportunity for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Help teach and coach pupils of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, techniques, and confidence in the water, reporting to the Swimming Co‑ordinator and working with other Swim Teachers, Leisure Attendants and Duty managers.
  • Deliver lessons that meet the Swim England Learn to Swim Criteria and the National Primary School Swimming curriculum for Key Stage 1 and 2.
  • Assist in planning, preparation and delivery of swimming lessons, including the Learn to Swim Programme and Key Stage 1 & 2 National Curriculum and water safety practices for all ability groups.
  • Assess pupils’ abilities, providing feedback and encouragement to improve performance.
  • Maintain pupil registration and progress records for each pupil, liaise with parents and school staff, and advise on appropriate award of badges and certificates.
  • Act as a positive role model, creating a safe, enjoyable, and educational learning environment, and encouraging participation.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 swimming teaching qualification awarded by Swim England or the Swimming Teachers Association (STA); Level 1 will be considered.
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) with up-to-date personal competency, including attendance at monthly NPLQ training.
