South Ribble and Chorley host an exciting and varied programme of events – popular with both residents and visitors to the boroughs. Our events generate much more than audiences. They positively contribute to the local economy and support our communities. We are now looking for a dynamic and proactive Event Assistant to become part of our hard‑working team and contribute to our continued success.
Location: South Ribble and Chorley
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: £26,824 - £27,254

What you will be getting up to:
- You will work on an amazing event programme, including the Chorley Flower Show, the Chorley and South Ribble ‘Live’ events, the Chorley 10K, a Taste of Leyland, a host of Christmas events and many more.
- You will support the delivery of our larger events whilst taking responsibility for delivering some smaller events – making good use of and further developing your event management skills.
- You will have responsibility for administering the councils’ external event application system.
- You will support projects that make our events better.
- You will input into event programming – creating new and attractive ideas that will engage audiences.
- For events that you lead on – you will write event management plans, event risk assessments, write procedures and good practices and organise staffing.
- You will work within a vibrant, energetic team who work hard to deliver our extensive events programme for both Chorley and South Ribble.
- You will work with the councils’ Communications and Marketing team to promote our events to maximise attendance and ticket sales.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for leisure and culture including events.
- Has some experience of working at events.
- Delivers to high standards.
- Has a positive attitude.
- Is creative, hard working and dedicated.
- Is able to create and maintain excellent relationships within the council and to those stakeholders involved in our events.
Other requirements:
- This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
- This role requires some unsociable – out of hours working including evenings and occasional weekends.
