About The Role
Location: Chorley and South Ribble
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: ÂŁ41,771 to ÂŁ44,075

Are you experienced in affordable housing & strategic housing? Fancy getting involved in helping Chorley and South Ribble Councils to maximise delivery of new affordable homes of the right type and tenure, to meet the needs of our communities? New affordable homes transform lives, provide security and help to improve life chances. We are looking for a talented housing professional to help us achieve our corporate ambitions to deliver more homes for rent in our boroughs to local people.
This exciting new role is perfect for a housing professional with an enthusiasm for social housing and a strong foundation of skills and knowledge of affordable delivery, looking to work across two very ambitious Councils, both with a track record of direct delivery of new affordable homes with social housing grant. You will work as part of a small growing team to build on our councils’ successes and drive-up delivery of new homes.
What you’ll be getting up to
- Work with partners to maximise new affordable housing both through the planning process as developer contributions and through the new Social Affordable Housing Programme (SAHP).
- You will work closely with our planning and development teams to ensure planning policies are applied to new developments coming through the planning process and progress the councils’ own sites for new housing.
- You will contribute to preparation of new housing strategy and policies.
Who we’re looking for
- Experience of working in strategic housing policy/affordable housing officer role in a local authority or an RP.
- Strong knowledge of national policy regarding affordable housing including planning.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrable ability to engage partners and deliver solutions to deliver affordable housing.
Other requirements
This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
