About The Role
Location: Chorley
Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: £51,356 - £52,413 (plus 6% car allowance)

Responsibilities
- Leading and supporting the Environmental Health team to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service
- Overseeing a wide‑ranging service covering housing, public health, food safety, environmental protection and community safety
- Managing day‑to‑day operations, ensuring workloads are prioritised and performance targets are met
- Making informed decisions on enforcement action and overseeing complex investigations and legal cases
- Providing expert advice on planning, licensing and environmental impacts
- Driving service improvements and delivering projects aligned to corporate priorities
- Managing budgets, resources and external contractors to ensure value for money
- Working closely with partners to safeguard vulnerable residents and support wider community outcomes
Qualifications
- A qualified Environmental Health professional with strong technical knowledge
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Confident in managing enforcement activity and complex casework
- A strong communicator with sound judgement and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach
