About The Role

Role: Mechanical Sweeper Driver

Location: South Ribble

Contract: Full Time hours per week) / Permanent

Salary:£29,540 – £31,022

If this describes you, we\’re looking to recruit to the role of Mechanical Sweeper Driver on our cleansing service at South Ribble Borough Council.

In this role, you will support the Street Cleansing Manager to deliver efficient, high quality and safe Streetscene Services across South Ribble.

You\’ll be working with a variety of different stakeholders and the public, therefore fantastic communication skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with customers are key.

What you\’ll be getting up to

Responsibility for the mechanical cleansing of streets and carparks within the borough of South Ribble. You will also be required to sporadically attend and deal with ADHOC works throughout the borough on a daily basis. Duties will also include the clearing of carpark gullies and any ADHOC contractual works undertaken by SRBC.

  • To operate both grounds maintenance and street cleansing machinery and vehicles.
  • To complete daily vehicle sheets / pre-use checks of both vehicles and machinery and to record as directed
  • To follow work schedules and participate in team working on all scheduled and reactive works across the teams
  • To maintain the council\’s vehicles, plant, and tools in a clean, tidy and safe condition, on a daily basis.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others is always adhered to, using risk assessments and dynamic risk factors.
  • To fully engage with and adhere to the Councils service standards and core values
  • Take responsibility for improving your performance by participating in the Performance Development Review process with your manager

Who we\’re looking for

  • You\’ll have a good knowledge of multiple tasks within the cleansing service.
  • You\’ll be a fantastic team player, as you\’ll be working closely with other teams in the Council and the public.
  • To assist in developing the skills of the team and encouraging the team to act as ambassadors for the Council.
  • You will have a good understanding of digitally based asset management systems and other software programs, such as Alloy, HFX, Outlook, and Havspro.

Other requirements

  • This role requires you to regularly use a vehicle therefore you must possess a valid UK Driving Licence with Category C entitlement.
  • This role may require you to work outside normal core hours.
  • Current and up-to date CPC License.
