About The Role

Location: Chorley Town Centre (Bus Station/Market/Market Walk)

Contract: Part Time (Up to 28.5 hours per week) / Permanent

Salary: £25,185 - £25,583

We’re looking for a reliable and proactive individual to join our Markets & Town Centre Operations team as a Town Centre Operative. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll play a key part in keeping Chorley Markets clean, safe and welcoming for traders, residents and visitors alike. If you take pride in maintaining high standards, enjoy working as part of a team, and want to make a visible difference in the community, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be getting up to

  • Maintaining the appearance, cleanliness and condition of market areas and operational assets during trading hours
  • Collecting and disposing of waste appropriately, and cleaning surface areas to a high standard
  • Setting up and dismantling market stalls and reporting any defects for repair
  • Supporting market security through the use of shutters and gates
  • Assisting and advising members of the public, providing a helpful and professional service
  • Managing and controlling vehicular access into market areas
  • Supporting emergency procedures, including evacuating the area safely when required
  • Wearing the appropriate PPE and uniform at all times

You’ll also work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to team priorities, sharing knowledge, and supporting a positive and inclusive working environment.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is practical, team-focused and committed to delivering a great service. You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in cleaning or manual work
  • Knowledge of cleaning processes or operational duties
  • The ability to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Practical skills and manual dexterity to handle equipment, machinery and trolleys
  • A positive, can‑do attitude with a strong focus on customer service
  • The ability to reliably attend early morning shifts at Chorley Market

Other requirements

This role requires an early start at 5am on Tuesdays.
