A Personal Assistant is needed to support a 12‑year‑old boy with autism, ADHD and Tourette’s. The role requires kind, caring, and patient support to help the boy feel safe and build a companionship.
Responsibilities
- Assist the boy with daily activities and schedules.
- Provide extra care and support outdoors, particularly near roads, ensuring his safety and addressing potential crisis situations.
- Ensure the boy wears ear defenders at all times outdoors.
- Accompany the boy to favourite activities such as museums (e.g., York Dungeon), cinemas, East Park, and McDonald’s.
- Support his gaming interests and manage leisure time at home.
- Maintain communication regarding any changes in routine and give notice before outing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Good understanding of autism spectrum conditions and Tourette’s syndrome.
- Strong interpersonal skills with patience and empathy.
- Ability to build a trusting companionship with a young person.
