Overview

A Personal Assistant is required for a 6-year-old boy in the HU4 area of Hull. The role involves patient, kind, and caring support to enable the child to access activities he enjoys, and to provide 1-to-1 supervision due to behavioural challenges and complex medical needs. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-to-1 support and supervision for the child, including during outings.
  • Assist the child with accessing activities and areas of interest (soft plays, swimming, parks, imagination play centres).
  • Support personal care needs (the child is in nappies) and assist with medications as required.
  • Support the child’s communication and wellbeing; respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviours when upset.
  • Assist with pump feeding as needed and follow any medical/care plans provided.
  • Assist with mobility tasks; may involve driving a wheelchair user in a Motability vehicle.
  • Ensure safety at all times and maintain a caring, patient approach.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Experience with autism and pump feeding preferred.
  • Willingness to undertake training for the child’s medical and care needs.
  • Car driver preferred; ability to drive the Motability vehicle is an advantage, as the boy will be taken out in it.
  • Reliable and punctual; able to commit to 4 hours per week during term time (Saturday or Sunday) and 8 hours per week during school holidays; days/times flexible.

Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour

Hours: 4 hours per week (term time) / 8 hours per week (school holidays)
