Position Overview

Two Personal Assistants are required to support a fun-loving 11‑year‑old boy in the HU5 area of Hull.

Hours: 6 hours per week during term time and 12 hours during school holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to a non‑verbal boy who requires assistance in daily activities.
  • Take instructions from his mother and assist with toileting, as the child does not acknowledge the need to use the toilet independently.
  • Encourage outdoor activities such as park visits, swimming, bus rides, and walks when he feels overwhelmed.
  • Offer comfort and tight hugs when he experiences stress or upset.
  • Support him with nursery rhymes with action and respond to vocal stimming sounds that indicate his emotional state.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the mother regarding the child’s needs and progress.

Qualifications

  • Training or experience with young people on the autism spectrum is highly desirable.
  • Ability to use own reliable transport; car drivers are preferred.
  • Willingness and preparedness to undergo a DBS check and to have a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service report, covering the cost of the check, which will be met by the employer.
