Choice Teachers are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wembley who are seeking an experienced and qualified SENDCo, SENCo, or Special Educational Needs Coordinator to join their leadership team from September 2026 until December 2026. This is a non‑classroom‑based position and the school is specifically seeking candidates who have previously worked as a SENco within a school setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading SEND provision across the school, supporting the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies, and ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to succeed. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND leader looking for an interim position within a supportive and well‑established primary school.

About the Role – SENDCo

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to strategic decision‑making
  • Attend leadership meetings and support whole‑school SEND development
  • Support teachers in delivering effective scaffolded learning and inclusive classroom practice
  • Ensure appropriate interventions and support are in place for pupils with additional needs
  • Oversee EHCP applications, annual reviews, and statutory SEND processes
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, educational psychologists, therapists, and external agencies
  • Monitor pupil progress and ensure SEND pupils achieve the best possible outcomes
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to teaching and support staff
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or an equivalent SENDCo qualification
  • Have previous experience working as a SENDCo within a primary or secondary school
  • Have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory responsibilities
  • Have experience managing EHCP applications, annual reviews, and multi‑agency meetings
  • Be confident working with senior leaders and contributing to strategic planning
  • Have excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Be passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for children with SEND
  • Be able to build positive relationships with staff, families, and external professionals
