Choice Teachers are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the Wakefield WF1 area.
Due to an increase in staffing requests from our schools, we have opportunities available for day-to-day, short-term and long-term cover, with both part‑time and full‑time options available.
This is an excellent opportunity if you have experience working with young people and are looking to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment.
What will you be doing?
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes in the absence of their usual teacher.
- Deliver pre‑set work and ensure pupils remain focused and engaged.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Support pupils with their learning and encourage positive behaviour.
- Manage classroom behaviour confidently and calmly.
- Work across a range of subjects and year groups.
Who are we looking for?
You could be a great fit if you:
- Have experience working with children or young people.
- Have experience managing challenging behaviour - whether in a school, residential, youth, sports or other relevant setting.
- Are confident, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Can work independently and use your initiative.
- Are reliable, professional and committed to safeguarding.
- Are looking for flexible work within school hours.
A‑Level education or equivalent is desirable but not essential, depending on experience.
This role can also be ideal for graduates or those considering a PGCE or career in teaching, as it provides valuable experience working within secondary schools.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Two professional references.
- Relevant experience working with children or young people.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
