Choice Teachers are working with a number of welcoming and inclusive schools in Bexley to recruit dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants for full-time, long-term positions. These SEN Teaching Assistant roles are available across all-through settings, supporting pupils from Primary through to Secondary. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Support Worker looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

About the Role

  • Support pupils across Primary and Secondary age groups
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Work with pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and other additional needs
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Have previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
  • Be patient, caring and resilient
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Be passionate about helping children achieve their full potential
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one

Experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, physical disabilities or complex needs would be highly desirable, although transferable experience will also be considered.
