Choice Teachers are currently working with an education provider in Edmonton who are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Motor Vehicle Instructor, Vocational Instructor, Vocational Tutor, or STEM Instructor to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an Alternative Provision setting supporting young people aged 14-19 who may have additional needs, barriers to learning, or have become disengaged from mainstream education.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical sessions in Motor Vehicle Studies, STEM subjects, and Functional Skills, helping young people build confidence, gain new skills, and progress into further education, training, and employment. This role would suit an experienced Instructor, Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, FE Lecturer, Vocational Tutor, or someone from a motor vehicle background who is passionate about making a genuine difference to young people's lives. The role is term-time only and includes 13 weeks paid holiday, offering an excellent work-life balance.
About the Role – Motor Vehicle & Vocational Instructor
- Deliver engaging and practical sessions in Motor Vehicle Studies, STEM subjects, and Functional Skills
- Support learners aged 14-19 within an Alternative Provision environment
- Plan and deliver structured, hands-on learning activities
- Support young people in developing confidence, employability skills, teamwork, and communication
- Use positive behaviour strategies and build strong relationships with learners
- Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records
- Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies where required
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Support young people with additional needs and barriers to learning
- Act as a positive role model and Mentor for young people who may require additional guidance and support
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working as a Motor Vehicle Instructor, Vocational Instructor, Vocational Tutor, STEM Instructor, FE Lecturer, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or within an Alternative Provision setting
- Have experience supporting young people, particularly those who may be disengaged from education
- Have strong classroom or group management skills
- Be confident delivering practical, hands-on learning sessions
- Be passionate about helping young people achieve their potential
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Be resilient, patient, and able to motivate learners with a range of needs
- Have experience delivering Functional Skills or vocational qualifications (desirable)
- Hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
