Choice Teachers are currently working with a specialist provision/school in South West London who are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Tutor & Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026 .
We have one long-term SEN Tutor & Teaching Assistant vacancy available , offering an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in both academic and pastoral capacities.
The successful SEN Tutor & Teaching Assistant will provide tailored academic support, deliver targeted interventions, and work closely with students on a 1:1 and small-group basis. You will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning while supporting their social, emotional and personal development.
Applications are welcomed from experienced SEN Tutors, SEN Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), Behaviour Mentors, Autism Support Workers, Intervention Tutors and Pastoral Support Staff with relevant experience supporting children and young people with SEND.
About the SEN Tutor & Teaching Assistant Role
- One long-term SEN Tutor & Teaching Assistant position available

- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group academic support
- Support students with a range of SEND including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
- Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy and social skills development
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Support students in accessing the curriculum both inside and outside the classroom
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering personalised learning programmes
- Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers, SENCOs and parents where appropriate
- Promote student independence, confidence and engagement with learning
- Foster positive relationships and provide emotional and pastoral support
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Have experience supporting students with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs
- Be confident providing 1:1 and small-group intervention support
- Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Be patient, adaptable and committed to supporting individual student needs
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Be confident adapting learning activities to meet different abilities
- Understand safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Hold a relevant TA, SEN, Education or Support qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
