Choice Teachers are currently working with a secondary school in the Kingston upon Thames area who are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Catering Teacher to join their department from September 2026.
We have one long-term Catering Teacher vacancy available, offering an excellent opportunity for a teacher looking for a consistent role within a supportive secondary school environment.
The successful Catering Teacher will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons, developing students' knowledge and skills across food preparation, cooking, nutrition, food safety, healthy eating and catering.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Catering Teachers, Food Technology Teachers, Food Preparation and Nutrition Teachers, Food Teachers and Hospitality & Catering Teachers with relevant classroom experience.
About the Catering Teacher Role
- One long-term Catering Teacher position available

- Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Catering lessons
- Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the curriculum
- Develop students' practical cooking and food preparation skills
- Teach key areas including nutrition, healthy eating and food safety
- Introduce students to professional catering and hospitality practices
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised practical classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the wider department
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Have experience teaching Catering, Hospitality, Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition or a closely related subject
- Have strong practical cooking and catering knowledge
- Be confident managing practical lessons and kitchen environments
- Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be passionate about developing students' practical and vocational skills
- Have strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene
- Have strong communication and organisational skills
- Be committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
- Experienced teachers and suitable ECTs are encouraged to apply
