Choice Teachers are working with a number of secondary schools across Westminster who are looking for reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to support with day-to-day and long-term cover. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous classroom experience, or someone considering a career in teaching, to gain valuable experience working across a range of secondary school settings.

The successful Cover Supervisor will supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain focused and engaged throughout the lesson.

About the Role

The successful Cover Supervisor will:

  • Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4
  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans in the absence of the class teacher
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Ensure students remain engaged and complete the work provided
  • Support pupils who may require additional guidance during lessons
  • Adapt quickly to different subjects, year groups and school environments
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff at the end of lessons
  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have previous experience working with children or young people
  • Be confident managing a secondary school classroom
  • Have strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Be reliable, adaptable and professional
  • Be comfortable working across a range of subjects
  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker or Sports Coach would be beneficial, although strong transferable experience will also be considered.
