Overview of the role

The role of the Team Leader is to provide support and guidance to a team of social care workers, whilst making sure you always provide the highest level of care and leadby example. You will also liaise with the seniors in the home reporting any matters of concern.You must have experience in the care sector and have the willingness to learn and expand on your previous knowledge. Not only will you make a huge difference topeople’s lives, but you’ll be able to enjoy days out, trips away and join in with many more activities, all of which ensures the people we with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives.

Key duties

  • Taking the lead withsupporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential care environment
  • Supervising a team and assisting withthe overall management of the home
  • Liaising with managers and other shift leaders
  • Executing any tasks allocatedin a professional, timely and accuratemanner
  • Supervisingand sharingmealtimes with residents to encourage a positive attitude towards food and dining
  • Assisting residents in their daily activitieswhether this be in or away from the home
  • Using your initiative when supporting residents during their activities and with day-to-day tasks

Where will you work?

Chesham House, in Bitterne, Southampton, is a ten-bedroom residential home supporting men and women between 35 and 60, with mental health conditions and associated complex needs. Chesham House has its own Day Activity Coordinator who develops personalised programmes to support education and life skills, providing a range of engaging and meaningful activities, tailored to individual capabilities. There is transport for trips into town and further afield. Located on a quiet, suburban tree-lined street, Chesham House is close to local shops, educational facilities and employment opportunities. Local amenities include bowling, the cinema, and kayaking. Bitterne Leisure Centre is five minutes away, and provides a swimming pool and gym.
