The role consists of shift work and weekends on a rota basis. Choosing to have more flexibility, Choice Care provides a variety of working patterns so you can find a schedule that fits your personal commitments.
Overview Of The Role
The apprenticeship takes approximately 12 months to complete and will allow you to achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. You will work alongside experienced staff members and learn the skills and knowledge you need to become a confident Social Care Worker. You will be fully supported by your colleagues and your manager throughout your apprenticeship, and you will develop valuable experience within the industry. You’ll make a difference to people’s lives, while enjoying days out, trips away and participating in many activities, ensuring the people we support are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives.
Key duties
- Providing personal care – including bathing, toileting, dressing and help with feeding
- Medication administration
- Assisting and getting involved in residents’ daily activities, hobbies or outings
- Following care plan guidance alongside company policies and procedures
- Developing an open, honest, and considerate working relationship with residents
- Maintaining written daily records
- Attending and completing training, as required

Being patient, reliable, flexible, a team player and a good communicator are key characteristics of a successful Social Care Worker.

Where will you work?
Chesham House, in Bitterne, Southampton, is a ten‑bedroom residential home supporting men and women aged 35 to 60 with mental health conditions and associated complex needs. The house has its own Day Activity Coordinator who develops personalised programmes to support education and life skills, providing a range of engaging activities tailored to individual capabilities. Transport is available for trips into town and further afield. Located on a quiet, suburban tree‑lined street, Chesham House is close to local shops, educational facilities and employment opportunities. Local amenities include bowling, the cinema, kayaking and, five minutes away, Bitterne Leisure Centre with a swimming pool and gym.
