An opportunity has arisen within Business Intelligence for a Data Quality Technician based at Headquarters in Sheffield. This position is offered on a fixed-term basis until April 2027.

Location: SYFR Headquarters, Eyre Street, Sheffield S1 3FG

Hours: Full Time - 37 Hours per week (Flexi Time)

Contract: Fixed-term contract until April 2027

Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 per annum (Grade 4) to increase subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.

The overall purpose of the role will be to ensure the execution of data quality routines, proactively monitoring and reporting on data quality issues. The role also involves providing systems administration and support in data collection systems.

To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience with:

  • Working in data quality management or a similar role.
  • Supporting the development of key documentation.
  • Providing systems administration and support for data collection systems.

You must possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and an understanding of data quality management tools. You must be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

The key duties will include supporting Business Intelligence in managing key data collection systems, ensuring data quality to support informed decision-making, ensuring quality assurance of statutory obligations and submitting data to the National Fire Chiefs Council, Ministry for Housing Community and Local Government and other organisations.

You will conduct system reviews, recommend performance improvements, collate and validate statistical returns, perform daily data quality checks, and maintain supporting documentation. Additionally, you will track and audit data passing through Business Intelligence managed systems.

The closing date for applications is 12:00 hours on Sunday 2 August. Interviews will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 12 August.

New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. They offer 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years' service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days. They also operate a generous flexi time attendance scheme. Other benefits include a cycle 2 work scheme, a free on site gym, enhanced maternity and paternity schemes and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
