This is a modern, predominantly home-based role where you’ll be trusted to work independently, supported by an experienced clinical coding team, and encouraged to keep developing. You will be part of an experienced , collaborative clinical coding team, contribute to AI-supported coding innovation and play a visible role in improving coding quality and healthcare information.
What you will be doing
- Deliver accurate, timely and high-quality clinical coding services for NHS and independent healthcare clients .
- Work predominantly from home, with a laptop and additional monitor supplied.
- Undertake occasional onsite coding at a local private hospital, typically 1–2 days per week depending on client need, with travel expenses paid from home.
- Contribute to CHKS’ AI-supported clinical coding programme and help shape smarter, more efficient ways of working.
- Raise and resolvecodingqueriesorsourcedocumentationissues with theclientNHS lead or other nominated contact in a clear, professional and constructive way.
- Work closely with CHKS Clinical Coding Team Leaders, sharing queries, insight and learning across the team.
- Support a variety of remote coding assignments delivered by CHKS, giving you the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients and specialties.
- Help maintain complete, timely, accurate and consistent clinical coding, contributing to high-quality information for patient care, reporting and service improvement.
- Apply nationalclinicalcodingstandards, conventionsandproceduresasdefinedbytheCoding Classifications Service.
- RepresentCHKSpositively byprovidingaprofessional, responsive and client-focusedcoding service.
- Keep your skills current through regularremote workshops and occasional in - person team training.
What you’ll bring (Essential Criteria)
- Broad clinical coding experience across a range of specialties, with strong experience in surgical specialties and/or Trauma & Orthopaedics.
- A good understanding of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Confidence working independently from home, while also being an active and supportive member of a wider team.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients andstaff at different levels.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Teams etc)
It would also be great if you have (Desirable Criteria)
- An interest in developing your career in clinical coding audit, training or management within CHKS.
