Your Manager: Senior Control Engineer

Team: Production, Engineering North

Location: Miltonduff, with travel to other sites in Moray, according to business needs. A company van will be made available for this role.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered. In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

Our Production function encompasses everything from the distilling of our products, through to Filling, Maturation, Warehousing, and the final Draining & Vatting. Northern Operations is all our sites across the North of Scotland, this includes 12 Distilleries, Animal Feed and Bio‑Plants, Heritage Sites, Bulk Warehousing Sites, Blending and Dispatch terminals and laboratory complex.

The Engineering team are responsible for a wide range of engineering activities, from asset care to multi‑disciplinary engineering projects.

Your unique contribution: The Control Engineer will provide an in‑house service for Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) work including projects and to get involved in all aspects of control and instrumentation. You will have five main areas of responsibility:

  • To carry out agreed modifications to distillery HMI/SCADA systems.
  • To support control projects with Maintenance teams and Project Engineers.
  • To collaborate closely with Distillery Management Teams on PLC, control and instrumentation matters.
  • To assist Multi‑Skilled Technicians with instrumentation problems and critical instrumentation testing.
  • To provide call‑out support to the sites.

Who you’ll be working with: Internally, you’ll collaborate with the wider Engineering team as well as with stakeholders in Project Engineering, Production, Finance and HR. Externally, you will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and suppliers, to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

Your blend of talent: This position could be right for you if you:

  • Have a trade qualification with an electrical background.
  • Are experienced in working with instrumentation to carry out setting up, fault finding and calibration.
  • Have a sound understanding of PLC systems including diagnosing and fixing faults, I/O, programming and graphics.
  • Have an awareness of industrial communication protocols, Cyber Security and a commitment to Health & Safety legislation.
  • Possess a full UK driving licence.
